UCF Knights Extend Winning Streak After Defeating Pittsburgh
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The UCF Knights men’s basketball team secured its fourth consecutive victory by defeating Pittsburgh, 77-67, in the Legends Classic on Thursday night.
Guard Themus Fulks and Riley Kugel each led the Knights with 18 points. Forward Jamichael Stillwell contributed 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, marking his second straight double-double.
UCF capitalized on its height advantage, dominating the paint and outscoring the Panthers, 46-28. The Knights also excelled in second-chance points, tallying 24 compared to Pittsburgh’s 11.
Despite UCF holding a narrower advantage in offensive rebounds at 16-12, the Knights averaged 1.5 points per offensive rebound, while the Panthers averaged 0.7 points. This efficiency was critical in their offensive strategy.
Unlike previous games, UCF exhibited consistent shooting. The Knights did not experience any extended scoring droughts, with the longest stretch being only three missed shots. This consistency was pivotal in creating separation when Pittsburgh struggled offensively.
Pittsburgh went on a 0-9 scoring drought, lasting from 2:42 in the first half to 14:27 in the second half, totaling 8:15 of game time without a score.
Sophomore center John Bol also had a notable performance, scoring six points and grabbing six rebounds in 22 minutes of play, his most this season. Most of Bol’s contributions came in the second half, which raises questions about his ability to maintain a consistent presence throughout the entire game.
The Knights will return to Addition Financial Arena on Tuesday, where they will host Quinnipiac at 7 p.m.
