Hong Kong Fire Wang Fuk Court

HONG KONG, China — A major fire erupted at the Wang Fuk Court residential estate in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to several others. The Hong Kong government reported that the fire started at approximately 2:51 p.m. local time.

Officials confirmed that seven individuals were taken to two hospitals for treatment. Of those, four were pronounced dead, two remain in critical condition, and one is stable.

Images and footage from the scene showed flames and dense smoke consuming multiple high-rise buildings, with reports suggesting that several residents might still be trapped inside. Firefighters have been injured while trying to extinguish the fire and help those in need.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have spread through bamboo scaffolding outside the buildings.
