Indiana Rain Weather Forecast

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — A damp morning is underway across Indiana with light rain scattered throughout the state. While no severe weather is forecast, some areas may hear rumbles of thunder as rain begins to taper off.

As the day progresses, the rain is expected to become showery and misty, creating a gray and dreary atmosphere. Local meteorologists predict that central Indiana may receive between a quarter and half an inch of rain, with southern regions likely seeing higher totals due to localized downpours.

By overnight, colder air is set to push into the area, dropping cloud bases and creating a chance for flurries primarily north of I-70. Central Indiana might also see light snowfall, but southern regions are expected to remain somewhat clearer.

The wind is also expected to pick up, with gusts reaching 40 mph on Wednesday, creating a sharp wind chill that will make the air feel much colder than the actual temperature. “It’s going to be breezy, and wind chills will be in the 20s,” warns 13News Meteorologist Matt Standridge.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, highs are projected to linger around 35 degrees in Indianapolis, marking the coldest Thanksgiving in the city since 2014. While travel may not be affected within Indiana, areas near the Great Lakes could experience winter travel challenges due to lake-effect snow bands.

With winter-like temperatures settling in, residents are advised to prepare for potentially messy travel conditions this week. Stay updated as the weather pattern continues to shift and evolve.
