Brandin Cooks Nfl Buffalo Bills

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills strengthened their wide receiver unit on Tuesday by signing veteran Brandin Cooks to the active roster. Cooks, a former first-round pick, was released by the New Orleans Saints this weekend and cleared waivers on Monday.

Head coach Kellen Moore confirmed that Cooks requested his release as the Saints restructured their receiving corps. In a related move, the Bills let go of Elijah Moore, who had struggled this season with only nine receptions for 112 yards in nine games.

“We believe adding Brandin to our roster will enhance our offensive capabilities,” said Bills general manager Brandon Beane. “He brings a wealth of experience and playmaking ability to our team.”

The Bills have had a challenging season, with their offense averaging only 21.8 points per game on the road compared to 32.5 at home. Tight end Dawson Knox leads the team with four receiving touchdowns despite missing games due to injury.

Cooks, 32, has had a stellar career, accumulating 729 receptions, 9,697 yards, and 60 touchdowns over 12 seasons with various teams, including the Saints, Patriots, Rams, Texans, and Cowboys. His most recent productive season was in 2021 when he recorded 54 catches for 657 yards and eight touchdowns for the Cowboys.

“I’m excited for this new chapter in my career,” Cooks said. “Playing alongside a quarterback like Josh Allen gives me confidence and I’m eager to contribute.”

With Cooks now onboard, the Bills’ receiving corps features players like Khalil Shakir, Tyrell Shavers, and Joshua Palmer, among others. Buffalo aims to reverse its fortunes as it prepares for a critical matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
