Redwood Road Crash News Report

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — Traffic was disrupted Wednesday morning near Camp Williams following a fatal accident involving a 66-year-old woman. The crash occurred on Redwood Road, which has been closed in both directions as city officials advised drivers to avoid the area.

According to Saratoga Springs officials, the road closure affects traffic headed to and from Utah County, especially around the Lehi and Bluffdale areas. They urged residents to use alternate routes, such as 2100 North and Porter Rockwell, to bypass the incident.

The accident involved Lisa McGeary, who was leaving Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery after a family viewing for her mother. As she was exiting, her vehicle was struck by a southbound Tesla.

Emergency responders transported McGeary to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Three occupants in the Tesla suffered minor injuries, and an investigation is currently underway to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.

This incident has sparked significant concern among residents, many of whom have taken to social media to label Redwood Road a “dangerous” area, particularly when pulling out from side streets. John Gleason, a spokesperson for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), indicated that the agency automatically reviews all fatal crashes.

“Anytime there’s a serious crash, we have a review board look at the situation to see if there’s anything from an engineering standpoint that needs to be considered,” Gleason stated.

With approximately 46,000 vehicles traveling this section of Redwood Road each day, UDOT encourages residents to report safety concerns through its “Click ‘n Fix” app. The ongoing investigation has not yet concluded, and authorities continue to assess measures to enhance road safety.
