Nebraska Volleyball Hosts Penn State in Blackout Match
LINCOLN, Neb. — The top-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team is set to host the No. 25 Penn State Nittany Lions on Black Friday, November 28, at 5:30 p.m. CT at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. This match will feature a special blackout theme, with the Huskers wearing black uniforms on a black court.
Fans are encouraged to wear black and remain after the game for a celebration of Nebraska’s Big Ten Championship victory. The Huskers clinched their sixth Big Ten title with a win against Indiana last Saturday, marking their 37th conference title overall. This achievement also extends their streak of conference championships to three, a first for Nebraska since 2004-2008.
Nebraska has dominated this season, coming into the match with a flawless 28-0 record and leading the nation with a hitting percentage of .349. On defense, the team also ranks first nationally in opponent hitting percentage, allowing a mere .127. Junior Harper Murray leads the team with 3.56 kills and 2.21 digs per set, while setter Bergen Reilly averages 10.38 assists per set.
The Nittany Lions, currently 17-11 on the season and 11-7 in the Big Ten, are riding a three-match winning streak. They are led by Kennedy Martin, who averages 5.43 kills per set, ranking highest in the Big Ten and second nationally. Nebraska has a strong history against Penn State, holding a 29-13 all-time record against them.
