TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was suspended indefinitely after his weekend arrest, coach Kalen DeBoer announced on Monday.

Kirkpatrick was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude law enforcement, and speeding. He was released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail after posting a $1,500 bond.

“Unfortunately, with the information that I have at this time, I talked to Dre, and we need to indefinitely suspend him,” DeBoer said. “He understands there are consequences that come with his actions.”

Kirkpatrick, a sophomore from Gadsden, Alabama, is the son of former Alabama All-American and NFL player Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. He has played in all eight games this season, contributing eight total tackles, one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and one pass breakup.

The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide (7-1, 5-0 SEC) is set to host LSU (5-3, 2-3) this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This will be LSU’s first game since the firing of head coach Brian Kelly, with Frank Wilson stepping in as the interim head coach.
