Alan Cumming Bafta Television Awards 2025

LONDON, England — Alan Cumming will host the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards, set for May 11 at the Southbank Centre‘s Royal Festival Hall. The announcement was made Monday by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Cumming, an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor, is known for his versatile performances across film, television, and theater. His accolades include a Tony Award for his role in ‘Cabaret’ and a Golden Globe and Emmy for his work on ‘The Good Wife.’ Recently, he has garnered attention as the host of ‘The Traitors’ on Peacock, winning two Emmys for his charismatic display.

“We’re delighted that Alan Cumming will be hosting this year’s BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises,” said Emma Baehr, executive director of awards and content at BAFTA. “He will definitely bring a playful sense of mischief and fun to the ceremony, so audiences should expect the unexpected at Britain’s biggest celebration of TV.”

The 2025 BAFTA Television Awards will air live on BBC One and stream on iPlayer for viewers in the United Kingdom. International audiences can catch the ceremony on BritBox in regions including the U.S., Canada, and Australia, as well as on Foxtel and various networks across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Nominations will be revealed on Thursday, ahead of the ceremony. This year, BAFTA is introducing new categories specifically for children’s television, expanding eligibility and aiming to honor the creative talent in this sector.

Last year’s awards had an impressive average viewership of 2.7 million on BBC One and iPlayer, alongside active engagement on social media, which garnered over 7 million views.

<p“In British television, the quality, innovation, and breadth of talent on both sides of the camera is unparalleled,” Baehr noted. The ceremony promises to be a highlight in the television calendar, showcasing the best in British programming.

The 2025 BAFTA Television Awards will conclude a season that has seen significant recognition for talent within the industry, including two major honors for ‘Top Boy’ and ‘Happy Valley’ at last year’s ceremony.
