Alex Bregman Red Sox Home Run Milestone

BOSTON — Alex Bregman is on the brink of a significant career milestone after a stellar start with the Boston Red Sox. The third baseman reached 199 career home runs last Friday, and with his next homer, he will become the 319th player in Major League Baseball history to hit 200 home runs.

This achievement marks an impressive rise for Bregman in his 10th MLB season, as he has already hit eight homers and driven in 27 runs in just 36 games. His current on-base plus slugging (OPS) sits at .973. If the season ended today, Bregman’s batting average would also be a career-high at .315, with his on-base and slugging percentages being his best since 2019, when he was the American League MVP runner-up.

At 31 years old, Bregman has stood out as one of Boston’s most dependable hitters, particularly while Rafael Devers has struggled at the beginning of the season. Red Sox manager Alex Cora expresses confidence in Bregman’s capabilities, acknowledging that his consistent performance has provided much-needed stability for the lineup.

“I don’t have to worry about Bregman,” Cora said. “He brings leadership and quality hitting every day. Hitting No. 200 is a special moment I hope he can share with the team soon.”

Bregman is expected to get another chance to reach this milestone on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, with Tyler Mahle taking the mound for Texas. The first pitch is set for 6:45 p.m. ET, and fans are eager to witness this potential milestone as the Red Sox aim for a much-needed victory.
