Elden Ring Video Game Adaptation Film Announcement

LOS ANGELES, CA — Director Alex Garland is set to adapt the hit video game Elden Ring into a feature film. The project, developed in partnership with A24, marks Garland’s return to filmmaking following his recent work on Warfare.

Elden Ring, a dark fantasy role-playing game, was released on February 25, 2022, by FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment. Hidetaka Miyazaki, known for the Dark Souls series, directed the game alongside Yui Tanimura. The storyline features the Tarnished, a group of exiles tasked with reassembling the shattered Elden Ring to restore order to the chaotic Lands Between.

The game received critical acclaim and won several awards, including Game of the Year at the 2022 Game Awards. Its expansive narrative and engaging gameplay have made it a standout title in the gaming community.

Garland, famed for films like Ex Machina and Annihilation, has a reputation for creating visually compelling and thought-provoking cinema. In addition to Elden Ring, he is also working on the next installments of the 28 Days Later series, with projects titled 28 Years Later and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

Filming for Elden Ring is anticipated to begin in 2026, aiming to capture the game’s intricate world and narrative. As details continue to emerge, fans eagerly await more announcements about the project.
