Alia Bhatt and Samantha Ruth Prabhu Steal the Show at ‘Jigra’ Pre-Release Event
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, currently occupied with the promotion of her latest film ‘Jigra,’ made a notable appearance in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The event, widely covered across social media platforms, was also attended by notable personalities including actors Rana Daggubati and Vedang Raina. Director Trivikram Srinivas was also present, lending his support to the film.
During the promotional event, Alia Bhatt charmed the audience by singing “Oo Antava,” a song originally performed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Allu Arjun in the 2021 hit film ‘Pushpa: The Rise.’ A video clip circulating online shows Samantha smiling beside Alia as the latter belted out the track. Following Alia’s impromptu performance, Samantha hugged her, eliciting cheers from the audience. “First and hopefully last time,” Alia joked, showing humility as the event’s host dubbed her “such a sweetheart.”
Alia Bhatt also took the opportunity to compliment Samantha’s influence in the cinematic world. “My dearest Samantha, you are a hero on and off-screen. I have so much admiration for your talent, for your resilience, for your strength,” she remarked, emphasizing Samantha’s impact beyond traditional gender roles. Bhatt further appealed to director Trivikram Srinivas to cast her alongside Samantha in a future project.
The evening was also significant for Alia Bhatt’s film ‘Jigra,’ where she portrays Satya, a determined sister set on rescuing her brother, played by Vedang Raina. Produced under Dharma Productions and directed by Vasan Bala, the film is set to release on Friday. ‘Jigra’ is anticipated not only for its compelling storyline but also for its music, featuring the hit track “Chal Kudiye” and a rendition of “Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka.”
Adding to the event’s highlights, Trivikram Srinivas made a bold statement regarding Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s wide-reaching popularity, comparing her fanbase to that of legendary actor Rajinikanth. “I think after Rajinikanth garu, she has an equal fanbase in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam,” Trivikram stated, prompting applause from the audience. His remarks reflect the widespread love Samantha has garnered through her versatile performances in various regional films.
Samantha, who impressed audiences with her role in ‘The Family Man 2,’ has recently taken a break due to a myositis diagnosis but is preparing for her next project, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny‘ alongside Varun Dhawan. Her fans are eager to see her return to the screen. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is set to appear in ‘Vettaiyan,’ his 170th film, featuring co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil.
