Ally McCoist Urges Liverpool to Pursue Harry Kane This Summer

Harry Kane Transfer Liverpool

Liverpool, EnglandAlly McCoist has suggested that Liverpool should consider making a move for Harry Kane this summer. The England captain has had a remarkable season at Bayern Munich, scoring consistently and helping the club secure the Bundesliga title.

With Liverpool on the hunt for a new center-forward, McCoist, a former striker for Rangers, believes that Richard Hughes, the club’s sporting director, should aim for Kane, who is 31 years old. In a conversation with Jeff Stelling, McCoist said, “Harry Kane. I tell you right now, I’d go and test the waters with him. I genuinely would. How many goals is he scoring at Liverpool? He’s been incredible at Bayern. His goalscoring record is fantastic.”

When Stelling pointed out that Kane is reportedly happy in Munich, McCoist speculated that the former Spurs striker might be interested in returning to the Premier League to chase Alan Shearer’s all-time scoring record. “I get that, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that, but I tell you what would make him happy – beating Alan Shearer’s record,” McCoist added.

Kane has played for Bayern since his transfer from Tottenham in 2023 and has become the club’s leading scorer. He needs to match Shearer’s tally of 260 goals, a milestone he could reach in two to three seasons. He will turn 32 in July, giving him time to surpass the Newcastle legend.

However, whether Kane would want to return to the Premier League with Liverpool remains uncertain. His age exceeds the typical profile for an FSG signing, and he currently earns a salary similar to that of Liverpool’s star player, Mo Salah.

Stelling noted that Kane likely has no reason to leave Bayern, given his success. It appears unlikely that Kane will make a move back to England in the near future.

While Liverpool may look for another striker this summer, the chances of Kane’s transfer materializing before the end of August seem slim.
