American tennis player Amanda Anisimova has made a remarkable comeback at the Australian Open, reaching the fourth round after a challenging battle with Paula Badosa. This is Anisimova’s second tournament back after taking an eight-month break from professional tennis to address burnout and mental health issues. Despite her struggles, Anisimova displayed her talent and determination, defeating Badosa 7-5, 6-4.

Anisimova, once considered a teenage prodigy, had a successful junior career, winning the US Open junior title and reaching the semi-finals of the French Open in 2019. However, tragedy struck when her father, also her coach, passed away. This loss, combined with mental health struggles, led Anisimova to take a break from the sport.

During her time away from tennis, Anisimova enrolled in Nova Southeastern University, spent time volunteering at a dog shelter, and focused on her painting skills. Taking this break allowed her to reset herself and gain a new perspective on the game.

Now 22 years old, Anisimova showcased her exceptional shotmaking skills and powerful two-handed backhand in her match against Badosa. Striking 40 winners in just two sets, she demonstrated her ability to dominate the court. Her victory sets up a thrilling clash with defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the next round.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva produced an incredible comeback, overcoming a 1-5 third-set deficit to defeat Diane Parry in a thrilling 3-set match. Coco Gauff, the fourth seed, also cruised through her match against Alycia Parks with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
