Amazon Prime Day Shopping Deals

Amazon’s much-anticipated Prime Big Deal Days have returned, offering shoppers two days of exclusive access to significant discounts on a wide range of products. The event, running from October 8 to October 9, 2024, is exclusively available to Amazon Prime members across 19 countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Among the most notable deals, customers can find tech gadgets like the Apple Watch SE (2nd Generation) marked down by $80, and the Dyson Outsize Origin cordless vacuum cleaner with a $200 discount. For those interested in sports gear, Rawlings is offering a 73% discount on select baseball and softball products.

Retail analysts highlight that Amazon’s October sales event serves as a precursor to the holiday shopping season. “Prime Big Deal Days provide an excellent opportunity for consumers to get a head start on holiday shopping,” a retail expert stated. The event is similar to Prime Day, traditionally held in July, and allows Amazon to compete with other retailers such as Target and Walmart, which are also hosting concurrent sales events.

Shopping experts advise consumers to be strategic with their purchases. “While the deals are tempting, it’s best to hold off on buying electronics like TVs and laptops,” advised a spokesperson from Ross Reports. “Historically, better discounts are offered during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.” Experts suggest focusing on purchasing seasonal items, clearance apparel, and products destined for holiday gifts.

Shoppers interested in apparel can benefit from discounts of up to 20% or more at stores like Kohl’s, which are offering end-of-season sales to make room for winter inventory. At Target, Halloween costumes and decorations are significantly marked down as the holiday approaches.

This year marks the third consecutive autumn that Amazon has held Prime Day-style events, underscoring a strategy to extend its reach and engage consumers beyond the summer months. The event follows the Prime Early Access Sale from October 2022, reincarnated last year as Prime Big Deal Days.

For those keen on participating, it’s important to note that an active Prime membership is necessary. Members pay $14.99 monthly, or $139 annually, though discounts exist for young adults and qualifying government assistance recipients.

Amazon is not the only retailer offering significant savings. Competitors like Target and Walmart have launched their own sales to capitalize on the seasonal shopping frenzy, with discounts across various categories, from clothing to electronics.
