HOUSTON, Texas — As the Rockets prepare for their first playoff series in recent history, 22-year-old Amen Thompson‘s growth as a player is a key element of their competitive strategy. The dynamic swingman has excelled during his sophomore season, gaining recognition as a formidable defender while boosting his scoring, rebounding, and passing stats.

Under head coach Ime Udoka, Thompson has transformed into a pivotal player in Houston’s lineup. “I hold him to a high standard because of the things he can do. We know how good he can be,” Udoka said, reflecting on Thompson’s ability to perform under pressure.

After teammate Fred VanVleet suffered an injury, Thompson stepped up as the point guard, averaging 5.9 assists per game during VanVleet’s absence.
