América and Chivas Gear Up for Classic Friendly in Arizona
GLENDALE, Arizona — This evening, Club América will face off against Chivas Guadalajara in a highly anticipated friendly match at the State Farm Stadium. Scheduled for 9:00 p.m. CST, the match is part of the ongoing connection between these two historic teams and their large fan bases in the United States.
Despite being labeled as a friendly, both clubs are expected to bring intense competition to the field. America’s head coach, André Jardine, will be without significant players, including Alejandro Zendejas, who is with the U.S. Men's National Team, and several others called up for international duty, such as Luis Malagón and Kevin Álvarez.
Chivas also faces challenges, with eight players sidelined due to injuries and national team call-ups. Key players like Roberto Alvarado and Erick Gutiérrez are among those currently rehabilitating injuries.
The last official meeting between the two teams took place on September 13 during the Liga MX season, where Chivas secured a surprising 2-1 victory against América. Goals from Roberto Alvarado and Armando González put Chivas on the winning side in a match that continued their rivalry.
The upcoming friendly is anticipated to draw around 40,000 fans, reflecting the strong support both teams have in the region. Despite the lack of formal competition significance, the match remains crucial for pride and preparation ahead of the next Liga MX games.
Tickets for the event range between $59 and $268 depending on seating, and fans can catch the live broadcast on VIX and TUDN.
