American Man Rampage Bali Medical Clinic

BADUNG, Indonesia — A 27-year-old U.S. citizen was deported from Bali on Monday following a violent incident at a local medical clinic. The man, known only by his initials MM, reportedly lashed out after regaining consciousness in the clinic early Saturday morning.

Witnesses said MM was brought into the Nusa Medica Pratama Clinic by a friend around 5 a.m., unconscious and wearing only his underwear. Once he woke up, he began screaming and throwing furniture, creating a chaotic scene that terrified patients and staff.

Footage of the incident shows MM dismantling a medical cabinet and yelling profanities while demanding that someone stop recording him. Distressed patients and clinic staff can be heard pleading for him to calm down as he ripped down privacy curtains around a treatment area, exposing an older woman patient and several nurses.

According to local authorities and reports, MM’s violent outburst caused considerable damage within the clinic. He was eventually subdued by police after they arrived at the scene, during which he hit his friend who attempted to calm him down.

“When the perpetrator regained consciousness, his friend came over to hug him. However, he immediately became angry and even hit his friend, resulting in a confrontation,” said AKP I Komang Agus Dharmayana W, Chief of the South Kuta Police.

Following the chaotic episode, MM was arrested and charged with vandalism. A drug test administered while in custody revealed THC and cocaine, although authorities concluded that the substances had likely been ingested days prior to the incident.

The 27-year-old man apologized to the clinic for his behavior and agreed to pay approximately $2,000 for damages, which is about 35 million rupiah in local currency. Despite the serious nature of the incident, he managed to leave Indonesia with a valid visa that was set to expire in two weeks.

Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster expressed regret over the incident, stating to reporters, “Bali welcomes tourists from around the world, but everyone must respect our laws, customs, and cultural values. There is no room for behavior that threatens public order.”

MM’s friend, who witnessed the rampage unfold, attempted to intervene but faced physical aggression from MM. Witnesses described the scene as terrifying, recalling MM’s erratic behavior as the clinic’s staff and patients scrambled for safety.

The shocking footage of the event has since gone viral, eliciting concerned reactions from the public who feel sympathy for the clinic’s staff and patients that were put in harm’s way. Videos of MM’s outburst highlighted the risks posed to healthcare facilities and personnel.

The incident has sparked conversations about the consequences of drug use and its impact on public safety, especially in tourist-heavy areas like Bali.
