NEW YORK, NY — Acclaimed actress and comedian Amy Poehler is set to launch her new podcast, “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” in March 2025. The weekly video series promises to blend comedy with personal anecdotes and informal conversations with various guests.
Poehler, known for her roles in “Parks and Recreation” and “Saturday Night Live,” teased the podcast’s format during an appearance on the “Today” show. “I checked and I’m officially the last person to not have a podcast, so I figured I’d jump in,” she said, embracing the trend that has captivated many celebrities.
The podcast will feature a lineup of notable guests as Poehler explores what makes them laugh and discusses recent humorous discoveries. Poehler, who will host and serve as executive producer alongside Bill Simmons, stated, “I think sometimes we ask women to be teachers and healers. I’m looking for some good dumb fun.”
Her production team, Paper Kite Productions, will collaborate with The Ringer, a company owned by Spotify. Simmons expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Amy should have one of the biggest podcasts in the world — she’s a great hang, she’s funny, and she actually loves the genre.”
The podcast seeks not to instruct or educate its listeners but instead deliver amusement and light-heartedness. “These are tough times; we’re just trying to have a good laugh,” Poehler added during the interview. She reiterated that the primary goal is to engage in light, entertaining discussions.
The series follows the success of her previous venture, the scripted comedy podcast “Say More with Dr. Sheila,” which reached the Apple Podcasts comedy chart’s number one position in 2023 and was named one of the best podcasts of the year by The New York Times.
To celebrate the podcast’s launch, several of Poehler’s friends have shared their advice in a video, including Simmons, actor Will Arnett, and comedian Rachel Dratch. In a humorous moment, Arnett, who was married to Poehler from 2003 to 2016, quipped, “Would you happen to know my blood type? I have to put it down on this form.”
Poehler emphasized the importance of creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for the show, stating, “I love the format, I listen to a ton of shows, so I’m excited to just get started.” Episodes will not only be available on popular podcast platforms but also feature video releases.
The podcast is expected to attract a wide audience, combining Poehler’s comedic talent with her engaging interview style, all while focusing on laughter and good company. The first episode of “Good Hang” will premiere in March, with anticipation building for its arrival.
