Angels Shut Out Giants in Series Opener with Stellar Pitching Performance

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Los Angeles Angels halted their four-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Friday night, marking a promising start to their three-game series at Angel Stadium.
Angels pitcher Tyler Anderson (2-0) led the way, tossing six impressive innings, during which he allowed just three hits while striking out six. The 33-year-old left-hander has shown remarkable efficiency this season, limiting right-handed hitters to a league-leading .077 batting average.
Anderson’s performance was supported by timely hitting from Zach Neto, who drove in the game’s first run with an RBI double in the second inning. Neto returned to action following shoulder rehabilitation and showcased his prowess by hitting a 106-mph one-hopper into left-center field.
Later in the same inning, Kyren Paris capitalized on a fielding error by Giants third baseman Matt Chapman, allowing Neto to score an unearned run that put the Angels up 2-0. The Giants’ starting pitcher, Logan Webb (2-1), registered 12 strikeouts but was unable to secure any runs for his team.
A pivotal moment occurred in the seventh inning when Paris made a remarkable catch, denying the Giants a potential rally. With two outs and a runner on first, Paris snagged a one-hop grounder, preserving the Angels’ lead while preventing San Francisco’s hitters from gaining momentum.
In relief, Kenley Jansen earned his 452nd career save, solidifying the Angels’ strong defensive play throughout the game. Jansen and fellow relievers combined for three hitless innings following Anderson’s exit.
“It felt great to contribute to this win after a tough stretch,” Anderson said. “Everyone played their part, and it was a solid team effort tonight.”
With this victory, the Angels improved to 10-9, while the Giants fell to 13-7. The teams will meet again on Saturday, with Angels RHP currently scheduled to face Giants RHP.
Attendance for the night was 43,912, and the game lasted 2 hours and 19 minutes as the Angels look to build upon this momentum in the series to come.
