Anticipation Builds for Eversource Hartford Marathon This Saturday

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Eversource Hartford Marathon is set for Saturday, with nearly 10,000 runners and walkers expected to participate in the event.

The races will begin at the State Capitol and conclude at Bushnell Park. As of Wednesday, all race categories, including the marathon, half marathon, Team 26.2 relay, and charity 5K, reached full capacity.

Registration has closed, and there will be no race-day packet pickup. Participants must collect their bibs and T-shirts in downtown Hartford. The expo will be open on Thursday, October 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday, October 10, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Wheelchair athletes will kick off the event at 7:55 a.m. on Capitol Avenue, with the marathon, half marathon, and team relay scheduled to start at 8 a.m. The charity 5K will begin at 8:01 a.m. on Capitol Avenue east of the Bushnell Theater.

Additionally, the Hartford Marathon Foundation Kids Fun Run is set to take place at 9:30 a.m. at Elm and West streets. Local media will broadcast live from the finish line, streaming from 7:30 a.m. until noon.

Road closures in Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, and South Windsor will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Various highway exits will also be closed on I-84, I-91, and Route 2 westbound. Complete details on closures are available on the Hartford Marathon website.

Festivities will run in Bushnell Park from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring food and vendors. A beer garden, sponsored by Urban Lodge Brewing, will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and participants aged 21 and over can enjoy one complimentary beer with valid ID.

Live music will enhance the atmosphere throughout the day on the “Powerstation Events Bushnell Park” stage.
