Arian Smith Nfl Draft Highlights

ATHENS, Ga. — Arian Smith, a wide receiver from the University of Georgia, was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon, with the 110th overall pick. Smith, who excelled as both a track athlete and football player, is known for his impressive speed and ability to create big plays.

During his senior season, Smith led Georgia with 817 receiving yards on 48 catches, averaging 17 yards per catch and scoring four touchdowns. His performance was especially notable despite some inconsistencies in his catching ability. Smith’s speed, clocked at a 4.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, made him one of the fastest players in college football, drawing attention from NFL scouts.

Smith began his career at Georgia as a track athlete and demonstrated exceptional skill in both football and track. In high school, he recorded a long jump of 25 feet, 3.25 inches, the longest among high school athletes nationwide in 2018, and earned a gold medal in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the 2019 Pan American U20 Athletics Championships. He also earned All-American honors in track at UGA in 2021.

Over the course of his college career, Smith overcame multiple injuries that threatened his progress. Suffering from a broken wrist, a torn meniscus, and a fractured ankle, he nevertheless became a key player for Georgia, especially during the significant moments of his final season. Smith caught a 51-yard pass in the SEC Championship Game and had a 76-yard touchdown reception in the Peach Bowl against Ohio State.

Despite concerns regarding his hands and ability to consistently make contested catches, Smith’s speed and explosive playmaking ability could provide the Jets with a valuable weapon. UGA offensive coordinator Mike Bobo expressed admiration for Smith’s work ethic, stating, “I love that kid because there’s not a harder worker on our football team than Arian Smith.”

With the Jets selecting Smith, he becomes the 13th player from Georgia to join the team, signifying a continued connection between the Bulldogs and the NFL. Smith aims to translate his college success into a promising pro career as the Jets kick off their season.
