Arizona State Tax Credit Education Support

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — As the April 2024 tax filing deadline approaches, Arizona residents are encouraged to contribute to local education through state tax credits. By donating to School Tuition Organizations (STOs), taxpayers can direct their funds to private or independent schools, creating opportunities for students in need.

The Verde Valley School is a founding member of the Verde Valley School Tuition Organization (VVSTO), a certified program recognized by the State of Arizona. The VVSTO aims to assist students who require financial support in order to access quality education.

According to Arizona law, residents can receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for contributions made to qualified STOs. This means that the amount donated can be subtracted directly from their state tax owed, making it a financial boon for both taxpayers and the educational institutions involved.

“Our mission at VVSTO is to ensure that every student can pursue their educational goals, regardless of their financial background,” said Mike Johnson, director of the Verde Valley School. “We’re grateful for the generosity of the community and the impact it has on the lives of these young people.”

Donations can support various educational needs, including scholarships for students, funding for academic programs, and essential supplies. This year, the VVSTO projects that increased community participation could result in significant funding to support more students than ever before.

Residents interested in making a contribution are encouraged to visit the VVSTO website to understand the tax credit process and learn about specific needs within local schools. Contributions can be made online, simplifying the process for donors eager to make a difference.

“This initiative not only helps fill the budget gaps faced by many schools but ultimately benefits the entire state,” Johnson added. “Investing in education is investing in our future.”
