Arjun Erigaisi Rises to World No. 3 in FIDE Chess Rankings
Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi has achieved a career milestone by reaching World No. 3 in the latest FIDE live chess rankings. This achievement was announced following his impressive performance at the Chess Olympiad, held recently. The young chess prodigy surpassed the United States‘ Fabiano Caruana in the rankings and achieved a personal best rating of 2797.2.
Arjun’s climactic finish to the Chess Olympiad included a notable victory against Slovenia‘s Jan Subelj, which contributed significantly to his rise in the rankings. In light of this achievement, Arjun emerges as the highest-rated Indian player on the current chess circuit, leaving behind prominent fellow Indian competitors.
The current top of the FIDE rankings sees Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen at the summit with a rating of 2830.8, followed by American player Hikaru Nakamura at 2802.0. Arjun Erigaisi’s rating of 2797.2 places him ahead of fourth-ranked Fabiano Caruana, who holds a score of 2795.8.
Fellow Indian chess player D Gukesh also demonstrated commendable performance during the Chess Olympiad, and currently holds the fifth position in the FIDE live rankings with a rating of 2794.1.
This development marks a significant moment in Arjun’s burgeoning chess career and underscores the rise of Indian talent in the international chess arena.
