AST SpaceMobile Sees Stock Surge Amid Trump-Musk Dispute

Midland, TX — In mid-June 2025, AST SpaceMobile, a space-based cellular broadband provider, reached its highest share price in nearly 10 months, with analysts forecasting nearly 19% further upside potential.
The company’s stock climbed over 38% within five days, despite fears that this rapid increase might deter some investors. The notable surge coincided with a very public feud between former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk, which many believe played a significant role in the stock’s performance.
Much of the stock rally appears to be driven by speculation surrounding the Trump-Musk conflict. Despite this uncertainty, it has raised key concerns for investors about AST SpaceMobile’s competitive position in the market.
A significant issue for AST is its rivalry with Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by Musk’s SpaceX. After the 2024 election, concerns regarding Starlink intensified, as Musk’s relationship with the Trump administration could favor Starlink for federal contracts, potentially limiting growth for AST and other competitors.
Starlink currently controls an estimated two-thirds of internet satellites in orbit, creating a challenging environment for other satellite providers. Due to finite orbital capacity, once a number of satellites occupy specific orbits, adding more becomes difficult or impossible. This presents a substantial hurdle for AST as it seeks to establish its network.
The tension between Trump and Musk may, however, impact Starlink’s dominance. In response to Musk’s criticism of a proposed spending bill, Trump hinted at the potential cancellation of federal contracts with Musk’s companies, which may have included SpaceX.
Musk has also suggested withdrawing from previous partnerships, including plans for the Dragon spacecraft used for International Space Station missions. Although Musk later retracted that statement, the public dispute has already stirred investor speculation, leading to a boost in AST’s shares.
AST SpaceMobile is making inroads to enhance its infrastructure, reporting a growth of nearly 262% over the last year. Recently, it has formed partnerships with telecommunications companies and secured significant contracts with government agencies, including a $43 million contract in support of the U.S. Space Development Agency.
With its focus on commercialization, AST anticipates activating initial cellular broadband services in various regions, including the United States, Europe, and Japan, generating expected revenues between $50 million and $75 million in the latter half of 2025. While the market navigates the evolving dynamics of the Trump-Musk feud, AST SpaceMobile remains a point of strong interest for investors.
