Aston Villa‘s goalkeeper, Emi Martinez, has voiced his support for team-mate Ollie Watkins, tipping him for the prestigious Premier League Player of the Season award.

Watkins, whose 19th league goal secured a crucial victory for Villa in their quest for a Champions League spot, is in contention for the golden boot, trailing only behind Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland.

With Villa sitting fourth in the table, three points ahead of Tottenham, Martinez lauded Watkins’ contributions, highlighting his 19-goal tally and 10 assists this campaign.

Expressing his admiration, Martinez emphasized, “Ollie should win the Player of the Season award, given his remarkable goal-scoring record and impact on our team.”

Watkins, on the other hand, remains humble about the prospect but is determined to clinch the golden boot, stating, “As a striker, scoring goals and assisting my team is my focus – winning the golden boot is a goal I’m actively pursuing.”
