Kentavius Street Atlanta Falcons Defensive Lineman

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed defensive lineman Kentavius Street, the team announced Monday. The deal’s length was not disclosed. Street, 28, is entering his seventh season in the NFL and his third with the Falcons.

The Falcons initially acquired Street from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round draft pick and a 2025 seventh-round pick. This acquisition came after veteran Grady Jarrett suffered a season-ending injury during a Week 8 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Street made his first start for the Falcons in their Week 9 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings, quickly becoming a key player in the lineup. He started five consecutive games before being placed on injured reserve due to a pectoral injury sustained in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During that span, Street recorded 14 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.

In the 2024 season, Street appeared in 13 games and contributed 15 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one sack. He also played a significant role in defensive snaps, being on the field 33% of the time.

Street’s return is timely for the Falcons, especially following Jarrett’s recent release and subsequent signing with the Chicago Bears. The current depth chart for the defensive line now includes Street, David Onyemata, Ruke Orhorhoro, and Brandon Dorlus, with Morgan Fox also joining the mix.

Before joining the Falcons, Street played for the New Orleans Saints in 2022 and had a brief stint with the Eagles in 2023. Originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, he has faced injury challenges early in his career but has since accumulated 104 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits, and 8.5 sacks over his career, which includes 10 starting appearances in 78 games.

The Falcons are looking to improve their defensive performance in the upcoming season after finishing 31st in the league in sacks. With Street back in the lineup, they hope his experience will bolster their defensive front. Street has garnered recognition for his capability in run defense and occasional pass-rushing ability, making him a valuable asset as the team navigates through offseason adjustments.
