Bijan Robinson Atlanta Falcons Running Back

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Falcons continue to grapple with their offensive struggles as they head into Week 11 of the NFL season with a disappointing 3-6 record. Despite initial optimism surrounding the team, including a significant investment of $129.5 million into their offense, the Falcons find themselves struggling in key areas.

This season, Falcons’ standout running back Bijan Robinson, who rushed for 170 yards against the Bills in Week 6, has seen his performance decline, averaging only 48.8 yards over the last four games. The pressure is mounting on second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr., whose early season performance has not met expectations.

The Falcons rank 27th in the league in scoring, averaging just 18.67 points per game. They also sit at 23rd in offensive EPA and struggle on third down, converting only 33.6 percent of their attempts. The offensive line, while veteran-led, has faced challenges, leading to increased reliance on the running game.

Derrik Klassen, co-host of “The Athletic Football Show,” expressed concern over the Falcons’ lack of offensive diversity. ‘The run game is too predictable, with nearly 70 percent of their runs hitting outside the tackle,’ he said. ‘If you aren’t mixing it up, defenses will catch on.’

Klassen noted that Penix appears hesitant to utilize the middle of the field, a pattern he displayed in college as well. ‘This is an issue that needs to be addressed if the Falcons hope to turn their season around,’ he stated.

As the Falcons prepare for their next matchup, the coaching staff must find a way to invigorate the offense, particularly as they lean heavily on stars like Robinson and wide receiver Drake London. Without significant adjustments, their playoff hopes may continue to dwindle.
