Atlético Madrid Crushes Getafe 5-0 to Reach Copa del Rey Semifinals

MADRID, Spain — Atlético Madrid secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Getafe on Tuesday, advancing to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. The match, held at the Metropolitano Stadium, saw a standout performance from Giuliano Simeone, son of head coach Diego Simeone, who scored twice in the first half.

The home team took control early, with Giuliano Simeone opening the scoring in the 8th minute with a header off a cross from Javi Galán. He doubled the lead just 10 minutes later, finishing a precise pass from Rodrigo De Paul. Samuel Lino added a third goal before halftime, leaving Getafe with no chance of recovery.

Atletico’s dominance continued in the second half, with Ángel Correa and Alexander Sørloth netting the fourth and fifth goals, respectively. Getafe, struggling in La Liga’s relegation battle, appeared disjointed and failed to mount a significant challenge.
