Bafana Bafana Stars Shine in MLS Matches Despite Losses

Bafana Bafana stars, Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Njabulo Blom, showcased their talent in the Major League Soccer (MLS) matches despite their respective clubs, Minnesota United and St Louis City, facing defeats over the weekend.

In a thrilling encounter, Hlongwane netted his fourth goal of the 2024 campaign and provided an assist in Minnesota’s 3-2 loss against Portland Timbers FC.

Minnesota’s early two-goal lead with goals from Hlongwane and Sang-bin Jeong was overturned by Portland, who secured the win with late goals from Santi Moreno, Evander, and Jonathan Rodriguez.

On the other hand, Blom opened the scoring for St Louis City in their 4-3 loss to Vancouver after benefiting from a pass by Chris Durkin.

His goal, his first of the season, was complimented by an Eduard Löwen strike to give St Louis City a two-goal advantage which was later nullified by a hattrick from Brian White.

The Bradley Carnell-coached St Louis City eventually succumbed to a goal from Fàfà Picault in the dying minutes of the match, sealing their defeat against Vancouver.
