A number of BBC presenters, including Naga Munchetty and Clive Myrie, have significantly boosted their earnings through high-paying speaking engagements over the past few years.

An analysis of the BBC’s external events register has revealed that Naga Munchetty earned over £155,000 in addition to her regular salary of around £335,000. She participated in multiple speaking engagements, including appearances for companies such as BBC, Cunard, Veuve Clicquot, and Associated British Foods.

Clive Myrie, who hosts Mastermind and BBC News, has also profited from external work, earning in excess of £130,000 since the BBC began publishing the register in 2021. His engagements include events with Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association, Fujitsu, People’s Postcode Lottery, and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Another high-earning presenter, Nick Robinson, has accumulated around £90,000 from external engagements. Justin Webb, who co-hosts Radio 4 Today with Robinson, has made over £79,000 in additional income.

Other notable BBC presenters who have benefited from external earnings include John Simpson, Kirsty Wark, Amol Rajan, Mishal Husain, Emily Maitlis, Dan Walker, and Huw Edwards.

The BBC introduced the external events register in 2021 to uphold impartiality within the organization. The register also highlighted former News At Ten presenter Huw Edwards, who received at least £125,000 from speaking engagements, including events for the Business Champion Awards and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
