Bella Thorne Mickey Rourke Film Set

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actress Bella Thorne has publicly accused fellow actor Mickey Rourke of physically harming her during the filming of the 2020 thriller ‘Girl,’ labeling the experience as one of the worst of her career.

In an Instagram post shared Friday, Thorne claims Rourke ‘bruised her genitals’ with a metal grinder intended for a different part of her body. She stated that while filming a scene in which she was kneeling with her hands zip-tied behind her back, Rourke misused the tool, hitting her repeatedly on her genitals instead of her kneecaps.

“Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life working as an actress,” Thorne wrote, elaborating that she sustained bruises on her pelvic bone. The post was accompanied by a screenshot of a BBC article detailing Rourke’s struggles on the reality series ‘Celebrity Big Brother UK,’ where he faced reprimands for making homophobic remarks.

In recalling her experience, Thorne recounted, “I had to beg him to finish the shoot.” She noted that Rourke reportedly refused to speak to the movie’s director or producers, forcing her to go to his trailer alone to convince him to complete his role for the film, directed by Chad Faust.

Thorne described that she endured the discomfort and challenges on set to ensure the film’s completion, stating, “Everyone’s work would’ve just been lost and completely for nothing.”

In addition to the alleged physical mistreatment, Thorne expressed that Rourke’s behavior throughout production included other humiliating actions, such as revving an engine to cover her in dirt during a scene, which she characterized as a deliberate attempt to embarrass her in front of the crew.

As the controversy surrounding Rourke continues, his representation provided a statement to The Daily Beast that emphasized his commitment to professionalism and maintaining a respectful work environment. “While we fully respect the right of any individual to speak about their experiences, we must be clear: at no point has Mr. Rourke been made aware of any complaint, formal or informal, concerning the incident described,” the statement read.

Thorne’s revelations came on the heels of Rourke’s recent controversies on ‘Celebrity Big Brother,’ where he made inappropriate comments regarding fellow contestant JoJo Siwa, including a threat to ‘make her straight,’ which garnered significant backlash. Rourke received a formal warning from the show’s producers after using derogatory language towards Siwa and others.

As the public reacts to both Thorne and Rourke’s situations, fans have shown support for the actress, praising her for speaking out against unacceptable behavior in the industry.
