Basel, Switzerland – Ben Shelton scored a thrilling victory at the Swiss Indoors Basel on October 21, 2025, marking his first win since returning from an injury.

The 23-year-old American faced Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak and won the match with set scores of 6-7(2), 6-3, 7-6(7). Shelton saved two match points during an intense third-set tie-break, demonstrating remarkable resilience after a challenging season.

After suffering a left shoulder injury that forced him to retire during a previous match in Shanghai, Shelton returned to competitive play this month with renewed determination. “It was such tight margins. He had the match on his racquet and then I had it on mine,” Shelton reflected after the match.

Early in the match, Shelton appeared to struggle, losing the first set despite saving multiple break points. However, he regained composure in the second set, showing strength on serve to push the match to a deciding set. After two hours and 43 minutes of play, he clinched the win, much to the delight of his father, who was present in the stands.

With this victory, Shelton is now positioned sixth in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, maintaining a solid gap from the seventh seeded player. He spoke about his preparation for the tournament and the importance of this win. “When trying to find your rhythm again, it can be tough. I did a great job in my preparation for this tournament to get to a place where I could be competing,” he said.
