Cincinnati Bengals Jalen Rivers Draft College Highlights

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Cincinnati Bengals selected Miami Hurricanes guard Jalen Rivers with the 153rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 26. Rivers, a Florida native, was recognized as an All-ACC honorable mention in 2025 and played a crucial role in an offensive line that achieved the top ranking in both points and yards per game nationally.

Rivers demonstrated significant versatility during his college career, playing at all five positions on the offensive line for Miami. He was instrumental in protecting quarterback Cam Ward, who was the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Rounding out his college accolades, Rivers was a consensus four-star recruit and the fourth-best player in Florida according to ESPN.

This marks a consecutive draft in which the Bengals selected a Miami offensive lineman, following their choice of center Matt Lee in the seventh round last year. NFL.com assigned Rivers a prospect grade of 6.17, suggesting he could evolve into a reliable backup with starter potential.

Rivers, who stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 319 pounds, earned favorable reviews from draft analysts. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein highlighted his robust build and ability to anchor, particularly in tight spaces. However, some concerns were noted regarding his footwork and leverage during plays.

Last season, Rivers primarily played the right guard position. He is expected to compete for a starting role against Cody Ford and Andrew Stueber as the Bengals prepare for 2025 training camp.

Did you know? Rivers’ family has a strong military background, with both his father and mother serving in the Navy. In high school, he won a state championship in shot put and also competed in basketball and weightlifting.
