The Elder Scrolls Iv: Oblivion Remastered

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bethesda Game Studios has officially announced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a major remake of the nearly 20-year-old game, available now on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. This release comes after years of anticipation and speculation among gamers.

Oblivion Remastered was developed by Virtuos, featuring a complete overhaul that includes updated graphics utilizing Unreal Engine 5. The remaster includes both the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, giving players access to a comprehensive adventure.

Todd Howard, studio head of Bethesda, emphasized the game’s significance, stating, “Oblivion was a real defining moment in the series and for how we make games as a studio.” He highlighted that despite the modernization, the essence of the original game remains intact.

The remaster boasts substantial improvements, including realistic shadows, enhanced animations, and modernized gameplay mechanics, such as an updated leveling system that merges elements from both Skyrim and Oblivion. “We’ve modernized a lot, but it’s still the same incredible adventure and the same carefully crafted world,” said Tom Mustaine, director for external projects and studio at Bethesda.

Players will also benefit from enhancements to the third-person view, improved user interface systems like Persuasion and Clairvoyance, and updated audio and gameplay. This ambitious project weighs in at about 125 GB and is priced at $49.99, or available through Xbox Game Pass.

In addition to the standard version, Bethesda has prepped a Deluxe Edition that features bonus quests, unique armor, and the game’s official soundtrack, catering to both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

With the remaster’s launch, Bethesda continues to cultivate excitement among gamers, as it also hinted at future projects within the Elder Scrolls franchise.
