BJP Announces Second List of Candidates for 2024 Lok Sabha Polls
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its second list of candidates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The announcement included 72 candidates, featuring prominent personalities like Anurag Thakur, former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Basavaraj Bommai, Piyush Goyal, and Anil Baluni.
Among the key mentions, Tejaswi Surya, the party’s youth wing chief, is now set to contest from Bangalore South, while the former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai will be the candidate from Haveri constituency. Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has been chosen as the candidate from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.
Moreover, some prominent personalities included in the latest list are Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar, replacing Pratap Simha for the Mysore Lok Sabha seat, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India Nitin Gadkari from Nagpur, and Pralhad Joshi for the Dharwad seat in Karnataka.
Noteworthy is the inclusion of BY Raghavendra, the son of influential Lingayat leader BS Yediyurappa, as a candidate from Shimoga. The BJP’s second list demonstrates continuity as it re-nominates three Union Ministers and three Chief Ministers, further reflecting its vision for the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, the second list also features names of four leaders from other parties who recently switched to the BJP: Seetaram Naik, Shanampudi Saidireddy, Godam Nagesh, and Gomasa Srinivas. These additions have lent further diversity to BJP’s candidate lineup for the Lok Sabha polls.
