BJP’s Jayant Sinha Steps Back from Lok Sabha Polls Following Gautam Gambhir’s Lead
Former Union Minister and BJP MP from Hazaribagh, Jayant Sinha, has mirrored Gautam Gambhir‘s recent decision by opting to step back from contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sinha, in a social media post, expressed his intention to focus on global climate change issues, urging BJP President JP Nadda to relieve him of his electoral duties.
Indicating his desire to combat climate change in India and worldwide, Sinha stated, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President Shri JP Nadda to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world. Of course, I will continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues.”
Having served as Minister of State for Finance and Civil Aviation in the Modi Cabinet, Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the opportunities he’s had. He reflected on the past decade of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh, acknowledging the support and opportunities provided by the party’s leadership.
Gautam Gambhir, another BJP MP who recently requested to be relieved of political duties in order to focus on his upcoming cricket commitments, has set a trend within the party. With Gambhir set to mentor the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), the BJP is witnessing a shift in the priorities of some of its key members.
As the BJP gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, sources suggest the party is gearing up to announce its first list of 100 candidates shortly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s recent late-night meeting with party leaders foreshadows an emphasis on introducing fresh faces, possibly with a significant representation of women leaders in the candidate lineup.
