Bob Iger Podcast Special Disneyland

Burbank, CaliforniaBob Iger, CEO of Disney, appeared on the popular podcast “The Rest Is History” to discuss his admiration for Walt Disney and the legacy of Disneyland. The episode was released on November 3, 2025, as part of a new four-part series detailing Disney’s cultural impact.

The podcast claims to have around 20 million monthly downloads, making it one of the most popular history podcasts. Iger expressed his respect for the hosts, Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook, stating, “There’s mutual respect here. I’ve loved the lessons that both of you have taught me, and you’ve done so with such a great degree of humour and entertainment.”

The first episode of the series, titled “Walt Disney: The Great American Storyteller,” explores how Disney revolutionized storytelling and theme parks. A second episode, set to release on November 6, will trace the historical roots of Disneyland, connecting it to Victorian fairs and world expos.

Along with the podcast episodes, a double video release will occur on November 7, featuring an exclusive interview with Iger and a mini-documentary. This special will showcase Iger giving Holland and Sandbrook a private tour of Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland Park, celebrating the park’s 70-year history.

Disney’s acquisition strategies under Iger, particularly the 2009 deal for Marvel, have had a lasting influence on modern entertainment. He is expected to step down as CEO for a second time in 2026, with several executives, including Dana Walden and Josh D’Amaro, considered potential successors.

Regarding the podcast’s exploration of Disney’s legacy, Sandbrook remarked, “Everybody knows the name Disney. It’s an organization with an almost unparalleled grip on the world’s imagination… Walt Disney himself is one of the most important cultural figures of the twentieth century.” Holland added, “Disneyland is a remarkable creation — one of the most influential architectural works of the mid-20th century.” The series is another milestone for a podcast that continues to expand its reach and impact.
