Bologna Hosts Fiorentina In Rescheduled Serie A Clash For Fifth Place

Bologna will be facing off against Fiorentina in a rescheduled Serie A match at the Stadio Dall’Ara, with both teams vying for fifth place on the league table. The fixture was postponed to accommodate Fiorentina’s participation in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Juventus, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat.

Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Orsolini will lead the line for Bologna against Fiorentina’s Andrea Belotti and Nico Gonzalez in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

With only two points separating the two teams in the standings, both sides will be looking to secure a vital victory to boost their European qualification hopes.

Bologna’s Adama Soumaoro remains the only absentee, while Fiorentina will miss the services of Lucas Martinez-Quarta and Christian Kouame, who is away on international duty with the Ivory Coast.

Fiorentina’s Luca Ranieri returns from suspension, adding strength to their defensive lineup, while Bologna’s Michel Aebischer is back from suspension.

Last week, both teams returned to winning ways after a string of poor results, with Fiorentina thrashing Frosinone 5-1 and Bologna securing a 4-0 victory against Lecce.

The match is a chance for Bologna to avenge their Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Fiorentina on penalties in January. The stakes are high as the race for European spots heats up in Serie A.
