Boozer Brothers’ Jerseys Retired as Columbus High Celebrates Fourth Championship

MIAMI, Fla. – March 21, 2025 – Christopher Columbus High School held a historic ceremony Thursday to celebrate its basketball team’s fourth consecutive state championship and the jersey retirement of standout brothers Cameron and Cayden Boozer.
The event drew the entire student body, as the school unveiled retired jersey banners for the Boozer twins – marking the first time in Columbus history that any student-athlete received this honor. Cameron’s No. 12 and Cayden’s No. 2 will forever hang in the gym, symbolizing their exceptional contributions to the basketball program. Both brothers are sons of former NBA star Carlos Boozer and are committed to playing at Duke University next season.
The celebration coincided with another significant accolade as head coach Andrew Moran was named the 2025 Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Coach of the Year. Under Moran’s leadership, the Explorers achieved their fourth consecutive state title, an accomplishment that makes Columbus one of only two schools in Miami-Dade County to reach such heights in basketball.
Among the attendees was Jai Lucas, the new head coach for the University of Miami men’s basketball team, who played a key role in recruiting the Boozer twins to Duke. Lucas expressed his admiration for the brothers, stating, “They have set a new standard for what it means to be a student-athlete.”
Boozer brothers Cameron and Cayden led the basketball program to four consecutive Florida high school basketball state championships. During their last game, Cayden contributed with 12 points, five rebounds, and six assists, while Cameron scored 20 points and secured nine rebounds. Their performance was a vital part of Columbus’s rise in national rankings.
The Explorers gained recognition as the country’s top high school basketball team based on statistical data. In previous seasons, the twins led the team to victories against Dr. Phillips, Winter Haven, and Oak Ridge to capture the state crown.
Recognized for his talents, Cayden Boozer ranks as the 22nd-best prospect nationally, according to the Class of 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He has accumulated an impressive 1,660 points, 467 rebounds, 702 assists, and 198 steals throughout his four seasons at Columbus. This season, Cayden averages 13.9 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Cameron Boozer‘s credentials include accolades that position him as a leading figure in high school basketball history. Alongside his four state championships, he has been named a McDonald’s All-American and was honored as the 2023 Gatorade National Player of the Year. Cameron recently led Team USA to gold medals in both the FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the FIBA U17 World Cup. His achievements this season include an average of 22.6 points, 12 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, establishing him as the second-best prospect in the Class of 2025.
With the championship secured, the Boozer brothers are set to represent Columbus as the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Explorers have a first-round bye and will face either Wasatch Academy or IMG Academy in the quarterfinals.
This milestone celebration not only honors the outstanding achievements of the Boozer twins but also serves as an inspiration to future generations of athletes at Columbus High School, underscoring the importance of dedication and hard work in pursuing success.
