Boozer Twins Commit to Duke, Boosting Blue Devils’ 2025 Recruiting Class
Highly-touted high school basketball stars Cameron and Cayden Boozer have announced their commitment to Duke University, choosing the renowned program over other competitive offers. The twin brothers are sons of former Duke standout and NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, who helped the Blue Devils secure the national championship in 2001. Their commitment further strengthens Duke’s recruiting class, currently ranked fifth by 247Sports.
The Boozer twins, who hail from Miami, were sought after by various top programs. They had undertaken official visits to Florida, Duke, and Miami before making their decision. Their official visit to Duke coincided with the institution’s marquee conference game against Arizona in November 2023.
Cameron Boozer, standing 6-foot-9, is a versatile forward and has been rated as the No. 2 player in his class. Adam Finkelstein, 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, praised Cameron as the best long outlet passer the high school game has witnessed since Kevin Love. “Cameron is a good ball-handler for his size, able to initiate the break in various ways, and possesses an advanced left hand,” Finkelstein remarked. Despite some areas for improvement, including his release point inside the lane, Cameron is noted for his excellent free-throw shooting and developing three-point skills.
His brother Cayden Boozer, meanwhile, plays as a guard and is ranked No. 21 in the class. Finkelstein described Cayden as having great “positional size and strength”, asserting that he has a profound impact on winning and “reads ball screens well.” While his shooting requires further enhancement, his history of success in Florida and Nike EYBL competitions attests to his potential.
Duke’s head coach Jon Scheyer, who succeeded Mike Krzyzewski in 2022, continues to build a formidable recruiting legacy with the addition of the Boozer brothers to the 2025 class. Having secured pledges from 11 top-25 players since his tenure began, Scheyer’s recruiting prowess is evident. The Blue Devils’ 2024 class was also highly ranked, achieving the top spot according to 247Sports’ rankings.
Looking ahead, the recruitment landscape remains competitive as Duke vies for additional top-35 recruits, such as Koa Peat, Shelton Henderson, and Nikolas Khamenia. As the National Early Signing Period nears, the Boozer twins’ commitment offers a promising start for Duke’s aspirations to finish atop the recruiting rankings once again.
Cameron and Cayden released a video on The Players' Tribune to announce their decision, expressing their enthusiasm for joining Duke’s storied basketball lineage. “Duke nation, baby!” chirped the brothers in unison, delivering an emphatic close to their recruiting journey while stepping into the footsteps of their esteemed father.
