Boston Pride Parade Celebration And Events

BOSTON, MA — More than 1 million people are expected to attend Boston’s annual LGBTQ+ Pride celebration on Saturday, June 14. This year’s theme, “Here to Stay,” reflects resilience and pride in the LGBTQIA+ community amid rising tensions.

The parade will kick off at 11 a.m. from Copley Square and will march towards Boston Common, where a festival featuring live performances will occur. Adrianna Boulin, president of Boston Pride for the People, stated, “Our theme is a bold declaration that we will not be erased or bullied into silence.”

The parade begins at the intersection of Clarendon Street and St. James Avenue, adjacent to Trinity Church. It will follow Clarendon Street, turn onto Tremont and Berkeley Streets, and finally reach Boylston and Charles Streets, concluding at the Common.

Headlining the festival will be singer and rapper Big Freedia, known for vibrant performances. Other local acts including RLETTO and the Iconic Divas are also set to entertain the crowd. The festival will run from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m., featuring vendors and various activities.

For those over 21, a block party at City Hall Plaza will occur from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering additional performances and food from local breweries. Organizers recommend using public transportation due to street closures and limited parking around the parade route.

In addition to celebrating, some groups like Mass 50501 are also using the occasion to protest perceived threats to LGBTQIA+ rights. They plan to join the parade with signs and messages of resistance.

As one participant put it, “We are here to stay, and we are proud of who we are.”
