Bowie Family Demands Justice After Son’s Mysterious Death in Bahamas

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – A Bowie family is seeking answers following the death of their son, Dinari McAlmont, during a vacation at the Atlantis Paradise Bahamas resort. The 23-year-old was found dead on the morning of April 5, approximately 12 hours after arriving with his family.
The Bahamian police have stated that McAlmont’s cause of death was drowning, prompting skepticism from his family. His mother, Michelle McAlmont, expressed her doubts, claiming she witnessed trauma on her son’s body when identifying it. “When I looked at the photo they showed me, my son was beaten,” she told Eyewitness News Bahamas. “I need justice for my baby. I need justice,” she added, visibly distraught.
Following the incident, Bahamian police indicated that “foul play is not suspected at this time.” A post-mortem examination reportedly confirmed that drowning was the cause of death, yet Michelle McAlmont disagrees vehemently. “There is foul play… you can see when somebody is abused and hit at,” she stated during an interview with FOX 5.
The McAlmont family had just arrived at the resort on Friday, April 4, and reportedly said that Dinari went exploring around 8:45 p.m. After staff members could not locate him, the family commenced a search, ultimately involving the Bahamian police. “The police said they were looking for him because, apparently, he had spat on some staff in a restaurant,” McAlmont said. She has since raised questions about the validity of that allegation.
Authorities later informed the family that Dinari’s remains had been discovered on the resort’s private beach. In a statement to CBS News, representatives from the Atlantis resort expressed their condolences and confirmed their cooperation with the ongoing investigation. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests. Our thoughts and condolences are with the guest’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” stated a resort spokesperson.
Dinari McAlmont worked as an engineer at Lowcation Studios in Brentwood, Maryland, where colleagues remembered him as a dedicated and passionate individual. “It’s hard to imagine life in general and life at the studio without him,” his employer noted.
The Bahamian authorities are currently awaiting results from a forensic toxicology analysis as part of their investigation. The family has requested all available surveillance footage from the resort to further understand the circumstances surrounding Dinari’s death. “I would expect nothing more than a full and thorough investigation,” Michelle McAlmont stated, emphasizing the family’s demand for transparency amid this tragedy.
As this story develops, the McAlmont family is reportedly securing legal representation experienced in international matters, as they seek justice for their son. Meanwhile, the local community and officials continue to await further details on the investigation into Dinari McAlmont’s untimely death.
