BPM Sports host, Martin Lemay, publicly apologized for making inappropriate comments during his daily show, Le retour des sportifs, on Tuesday.

Lemay was absent from his show on Wednesday at 3 p.m. as the broadcast started with an address from the station’s manager, Alexandre Panneton. Panneton issued apologies to CF Montreal for the remarks made by Lemay the previous day and mentioned that internal actions had been taken.

Details of the specific comments were not disclosed by La Presse to avoid potential defamation towards the Saputo family.

Lemay took to social media within the hour to express his remorse, addressing BPM Sports listeners, colleagues, CF Montreal organization, and fans.

In his statement, Lemay acknowledged the hurt he caused and the inappropriateness of his words, emphasizing his full accountability for the remarks. He committed to doing everything necessary to ensure his apologies reached anyone offended by his comments.

Lemay also indicated that he personally apologized to CF Montreal’s management, with whom he stated he has a deep respect for.

He concluded by acknowledging it as his first mistake in his career and ensuring it would be his last.
