Brad Marchand Stanley Cup Final

EDMONTON, Alberta — Brad Marchand scored a crucial overtime goal, leading the Florida Panthers to a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 6, 2025. With this win, the series is now tied at 1-1.

After losing Game 1 in overtime, the Panthers were looking to bounce back in Game 2. They seemed poised to secure a win in regulation but were faced with a late-game challenge, as Marchand tied the score with the latest game-tying goal in Stanley Cup Final history.

Marchand’s second goal of the night came 8:04 into the second overtime period, marking his third goal of the final series. “It felt great to contribute in such a big way,” Marchand said after the game.

The Panthers controlled the tempo, especially in the second half of the game, and managed to fend off numerous attacks from the Oilers. Edmonton had previously secured a dramatic come-from-behind win in Game 1, but Coach Kris Knoblauch emphasized the need for a fresh start in every match.

“Momentum and streaks are irrelevant; what matters is how we prepare for the next game,” Knoblauch remarked. Despite their efforts, the Oilers were unable to capitalize on earlier opportunities, only registering one goal from Mattias Ekholm during the first period before succumbing to Florida’s determined comeback.

With their performance, the Panthers continued a strong postseason run, tying their franchise record for road wins in a playoff year. Game 3 is set for Monday night in Florida, where both teams will seek to gain an upper hand in the series.
