Brentford Leicester City Premier League Match Highlights

LEICESTER, England – Brentford secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Leicester City on February 21, 2025, at the King Power Stadium, marking the Foxes’ sixth consecutive home defeat in the Premier League.

Brentford struck early in the 17th minute with a goal from Yoane Wissa, which ignited a scoring frenzy for the visitors. Just minutes later, Bryan Mbeumo extended the lead with a stunning strike, capitalizing on Leicester’s defensive errors. Christian Norgaard added a third goal before halftime, with a precise finish after Mbeumo turned provider.

Leicester, desperate to improve their fortunes, began the match with promising chances, including two shots from Jamie Vardy. However, their inability to convert those opportunities was evident as the match progressed. Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy lamented, “We started brightly, but after the first goal, we were never in the game. Brentford showed they are steps ahead of us right now.”

The second half was less frenetic but still saw Brentford maintaining control. Fabio Carvalho capped off the evening with a fourth goal in the 89th minute, finishing off a rebound after a save from Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

Brentford’s strength this season has been their away performances, and this victory marked their fourth consecutive win on the road. Speaking after the match, Mbeumo expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This is a performance to be proud of. We wanted to control the game, keep a clean sheet, and get the three points.”

Leicester City remains mired in the relegation zone at 19th place with just 17 points, failing to score at home in their previous six league games, a grim statistic Van Nistelrooy acknowledges impacts team morale. “We have to bridge this gap and turn things around quickly,” he said. “Every game is crucial now.”

The defeat underscores Leicester’s struggles this season, as they have now only won once in their last eleven league matches. Conversely, Brentford’s resurgence puts them back into the top half of the table, sitting in 10th place.

Next up, Brentford will look to continue their positive momentum against Everton, while Leicester faces a must-win matchup against West Ham as they fight to escape the relegation zone.
