Brentford Women Start Season with Huge Win

On an exciting opening day for the Brentford Women’s team, they kicked off the season with a fantastic 5-1 victory against Leatherhead. The team was quick to show their strength, with new striker Cheatley taking center stage.

Cheatley, recently signed from Ashford Town, made an incredible impact just six minutes into the match by sprinting past a Leatherhead defender and slotting the ball neatly into the bottom corner. Two minutes later, she showcased her skills again, cutting in from the left side of the box and curling it into the top right net.

By the end of the first 13 minutes, Cheatley had already scored a hat-trick, leaving the Leatherhead players helpless against Brentford’s onslaught. The home team continued to dominate, and it wasn’t long before the score line hit 4-0, thanks to a stunning volley from defender Englehard after a corner clearance.

The Bees controlled the game for the rest of the first half. Cheatley, who had already made her mark, was unlucky not to have scored more goals, hitting the woodwork three times during the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Cheatley went for her fourth goal, but it was saved by the Leatherhead keeper. However, when Logie earned a penalty after being tackled in the box, he had a chance to increase the score. Unfortunately, the Leatherhead keeper was able to stop the spot kick.

Logie quickly made up for the penalty miss, scoring a beautiful shot into the top corner just five minutes later, making it 5-0. Leatherhead did manage to net a consolation goal when Ava Devenport’s header went in after a scramble during a corner.

Breathing easy with a commanding lead, the Bees held onto their advantages for the last quarter of the match, ensuring a comfortable win to start the season. Brentford Women’s head coach Karleigh Osborne expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially noting their ruthless start in the first 20 minutes.
