Bret Hart Reveals His Dream Matches at WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony

WINCHESTER, Nevada — WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart reflected on his legendary career and expressed desire for dream matches during the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony held Friday night at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
During the ceremony, Hart, widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, candidly discussed the impact that fellow legends had on his career. In his speech, Hart specifically mentioned his admiration for Curt Hennig and his late brother Owen Hart.
“If I could pick one guy to have one more match with in our prime, it would be Curt,” said Hart. “I loved working with Curt. Either Curt or Owen. They were the most fun to work with. Curt was the guy that helped — him and Roddy Piper — get me from sort of the middle of the card and made me a main event guy. I’ll never forget that.”
Hart’s nostalgia extended to memorable matches, including his battles against Hennig, who he faced for the first time at SummerSlam 1991. That match culminated in Hart winning the Intercontinental Championship, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Over the course of his career, Hart faced some of the most iconic figures in wrestling, but injuries eventually forced him into early retirement. He reflected on the toll taken by the industry but maintained that his encounters with these wrestlers defined him.
“I’ll always cherish the moments shared with legends like Curt and Owen,” Hart said. “They shaped me as a performer, and I often think about how incredible it would be to step back into the ring with them again.”
The Hall of Fame Ceremony also featured appearances from several other wrestling icons, with each inductee honored for their contributions to the sport. Hart’s segment was particularly emotional, with the crowd responding warmly to his reflections.
As the event continued, Hart’s mention of Piper’s influence resonated with many in attendance. Piper, a wrestling icon known for his charismatic persona, played a pivotal role in helping Hart navigate his rise to stardom, something Hart expressed gratitude for.
“Roddy helped me so much, and I’ll always have respect for him,” Hart said. “It’s not just about the titles you win, but the people you work with that shape your journey.”
In addition to Hart’s poignant remarks, fans could look forward to a recap of the evening’s highlights during the WWE Hall of Fame broadcast on Peacock, including the celebration of all inductees and their significant contributions to wrestling through the ages.
