Brewers Trade Aaron Civale to White Sox for Andrew Vaughn

CHICAGO, IL — The Milwaukee Brewers have traded right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale to the Chicago White Sox, just one day after Civale requested a move from the bullpen to a starting role. According to reports by the New York Post, the Brewers will receive first baseman Andrew Vaughn in return.
Civale’s trade request followed the Brewers’ decision to move him to the bullpen in favor of top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski, who recently made his MLB debut. Civale, who pitched to a 3.32 ERA in four starts since returning from injury, expressed the desire to continue as a starter, particularly with free agency approaching.
“The conversation was very professional. I just respectfully said that Aaron would really like an opportunity to continue his career as a starter,” Civale’s agent, Jack Toffey, remarked.
Currently, the White Sox sit at the bottom of the American League Central with a 23-46 record. However, Civale’s experience and recent performance could bolster their rotation as they seek to build for the future.
Vaughn, 27, has struggled this season, hitting just .189 with five home runs. He was demoted to Triple-A earlier this season after failing to find his rhythm at the plate. Despite his challenges, the Brewers see potential in Vaughn’s underlying statistics as they look to enhance their roster.
This trade marks a significant moment for both players. Civale, who has a career record of 40-37, heads to a rebuilding White Sox team, while Vaughn joins a Brewers club competing for a postseason berth. Both players are looking to redefine their careers in this new setting.
As the trade unfolds, Civale could possibly join the White Sox rotation as soon as this Saturday against the Texas Rangers. His immediate future will depend on how well he performs in the coming weeks, as Chicago may trade him again to a contender before the deadline.
In a twist of fate, Civale’s request for a change leads him to one of baseball’s struggling franchises, illustrating the unpredictable nature of the sport.
