Alexander Bublik Hangzhou Open Final

Hangzhou, China – Alexander Bublik won the Hangzhou Open on Tuesday, defeating French qualifier Valentin Royer in straight sets with a score of 7-6(4), 7-6(4). This victory marks Bublik’s fourth title of the season and his first on outdoor hard courts.

The 28-year-old Kazakhstani player showcased his strong serving, hitting 21 aces and saving both break points he faced during the one hour and 51-minute match. Bublik attributed his success to staying composed under pressure. “He played unbelievable, and I wasn’t expecting that,” Bublik said, referring to Royer. “I really had to serve and do my best in order to win.”

Bublik’s win at the ATP 250 event elevates his ranking to a career-high No. 16. He joins the elite group of players, including World No. 1, with four or more titles in 2025.

Royer, competing in his first tour-level final, had a strong showing throughout the tournament. The 24-year-old managed to strike 15 winners but ultimately could not find a solution against Bublik’s powerful serves and strategic play.

Despite the loss, Royer climbed 13 spots to a career-high ranking of No. 75. He acknowledged Bublik’s skillful game, stating, “He was playing well and I really had to serve and do my best in order to win.” Royer previously shocked the tennis world by defeating top seed in the second round before making it to the final.

This victory adds to Bublik’s impressive season record of 31-17 and boosts his chances for qualification to the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time. He plans to compete next at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing.
