Burnley’s Connor Roberts Extends Contract to 2026-27 Season

BURNLEY, England — Connor Roberts, the full-back for Burnley Football Club, has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season. The 29-year-old Wales international, who joined the Clarets from Swansea City in August 2021, has been a vital player this season as Burnley competes for promotion to the Premier League.
Roberts, who has made 30 appearances in the Championship this season, expressed his excitement about continuing with the club. “It’s a special club with special fans, and I’m looking forward to creating more great memories,” he stated. The Clarets are currently positioned third in the Championship, just two points behind second-placed Sheffield United, with 11 games remaining.
The full-back’s journey with Burnley has seen him navigate challenges since his arrival. Initially brought in as competition for Matt Lowton, Roberts faced setbacks, including a serious illness during his first year at the club. Despite these hurdles, he established himself on the team and has gone on to make a total of 120 league and cup appearances.
New manager Scott Parker has recognized Roberts as a key player, which marks a turning point from the previous season when he seemed surplus to requirements under former manager Vincent Kompany. Roberts remarked on his current form, saying, “This has been a brilliant season for our defence, but the sole focus is on promotion to the Premier League.”
Burnley fans can celebrate this announcement, as Roberts’ renewed commitment indicates he will be an integral part of the team’s future plans. As the season continues to unfold, supporters will be eager to see how the Clarets perform in their pursuit of advancing to the Premier League.
